The reasons the allies started to build better tanks is because they were shocked at how fast France as a nation was defeated.

Although there were actually many tanks during the course of the war, the most famous ones had to be the sherman, M4, T28 and the Tiger.

Tanks in WW2 were the cause of many, many deaths. The number of people that were killed by tanks was actually very high but no one knows exactly how many of the 56,125,262 people that died was down to the tank.
